Congress misleading farmers on Agri Bills: Sadananda Gowda

Mysuru, Oct 8 (UNI) Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizer D V Sadananda Gowda on Thursday alleged that opposition parties are misleading farmers on the amendments made by the Centre to double the income of farmers in the coming years.

Speaking to media here, he said the Centre has earmarked Rs one lakh crore for various schemes pertaining to farming to increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP), kisan card, digital platform, PM’s kisan scheme, old age pension for farmers, crop insurance and many other schemes which will definitely help the farming community as whole.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's move to amend the three Acts related to Agriculture, since the farmers were suffering for decades because of various problems the amendments help them wriggle out of their problems. With the new agri bills, farmers can sell their product anywhere in the country at their desired prices. One land, one agriculture market, theme will get the boost, he added.

He said that the farmland act will revolutionise the farming sector in the country. there will be uniformity in the country as far as the sale of agriculture produce is concerned. There will be stability in the prices of agri products as well. This will also create more jobs in the future.

The Minister alleged that the opposition parties are spreading rumours that the Centre is withdrawing the MSP which is far from the truth. "There is no such plan as alleged by the opposition. The MSP will remain intact and we will try to strengthen it further whenever the time comes. There is no truth in the allegations that agri markets will be abolished and this is being done to confuse them. farmer’s lands will not go to any Corporate. "I advise the opposition not to get exposed with wrong information. I hope farmers will not fall prey to wrong information spread by the opposition leaders”, he added.
