COIMBATORE: Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) has made a special cot for attenders of patients admitted to its Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology for surgeries or corrective procedures.
.
This cot, post Covid-19 times, can be used to seat visitors of a patient and after visiting hours can be used for the attender to sleep on.
The cots' size is six feet in length, two feet in breadth and 1.5 feet in height. They can be pushed under the patient’s bed if not in use.
Until now, in most government hospitals in the state, patients' attenders and visitors would end up sleeping on the floor or sitting on the patient’s bed itself.
“Visitors and attenders often sit on the patient’s bed. It causes inconvenience to doctors and nurses,” said director Dr Dr S Vetrivel Chezhian.
