Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said on Wednesday that the Delhi riots were a 'big conspiracy' to spoil the atmosphere of the country. But security forces such as the Rapid Action Force (RAF) played an important role in stopping the riotous elements that spread chaos in time.
Rai was addressing the soldiers at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp on the 28th anniversary of the RAF. The RAF was established in 1992 as a special anti-riot wing of the CRPF. The Union Minister said that a big conspiracy was hatched to create disturbances in the country through the Delhi riots but the RAF jawans completely defeated the riotous riots.
He said that you got hurt, hurt during riots and demonstrations but you used force at a time when the violent mob started disrupting the peace of society. The RAF was deployed during the fierce communal violence in northeast Delhi this February. 53 people were killed and around 200 people were injured in this violence.
