Chance the Rapper says he almost starred in a McDonald's Super Bowl ad, until money became an issue during negotiations with the fast food giant.
Fresh off the heels of the success of Travis Scott's commercial campaign for McDonald's, Mickey D's announced it has now partnered with Colombian reggaeton singer J Balvin.
But Chance warned other talents how his plans to work with the internationally beloved burger joint soured, claiming he was once in line to star in a coveted Super Bowl advertisement but turned down an offer over a money dispute.

Designer Joe Freshgoods, who previously collaborated with McDonald's for a capsule collection, first weighed-in on the Balvin collaboration on Twitter.
'They just used me to see if it could work and I proved it could,' Freshgoods wrote.
A young man named Rell.P was quick to respond, 'Now J Balvin x McDonald’s got 1.? @JoeFreshgoods was wayyyy ahead of time.'

It was at this point that Chance (born Chancelor Johnathan Bennett) chimed in on the conversation by tweeting, 'I was supposed to do a superbowl commercial with them [McDonald's].'
He added, 'They played wit the money and when I said no, they hired a fake me.'
It's believed he was referring to a 2017 McDonald's Super Bowl ad in which a rapper makes an appearance and rhymes about a Big Mac.

According to Complex, Chance had previously tweeted to McDonald's that they should do business in 2014.
Eventually, Chance did appear in a Super Bowl ad in 2019 for Doritos alongside the Backstreet Boys.
The collaboration was for the company's new Flaming Hot Nacho chip.
Along with his solo career, which has garnered him three Grammy Awards, Chance is also a member of the Chicago collective Savemoney and a vocalist for the band the Social Experiment.
