Somerset police take part in 'Pink Patch' program for breast cancer awareness

SOMERSET - Chief George McNeil announced that the Somerset Police Department is participating in the Pink Patch Project this month.

The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative effort among public safety agencies nationwide to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support cancer research organizations.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and beginning this week, the Somerset Police Department will be selling a limited number of pink patches. Patches will cost $12 each, with all the proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Additionally, many officers will be wearing the pink patch throughout October.

Those who would like to purchase a patch can go to the Somerset Police Department Facebook page and click on the Pink Patch under the “Shop” section or visit the Somerset Police station lobby, 465 County St. Please note that only cash will be accepted for the patches.

“We are extremely excited to be participating in the Pink Patch Project again this year after the great success we had in our first year,” Chief McNeil said. “The Pink Patch Project is a great initiative that allows public safety agencies to bring attention to this deadly disease while also raising money in support of breast cancer research organizations. We encourage any resident who wishes to support our efforts to purchase a patch.”
