'Deplorable' child-like sex dolls are intercepted at customs, as two men in their 60s are charged

Two men have been charged after 'deplorable' child-like sex dolls were intercepted at the Australian border.

The two men, aged 61 and 65, from Geraldton in Western Australia, are not believed to be linked and were separately targeted by Australian Border Force investigators.

Officers intercepted two air cargo packages from Hong Kong at customs in Perth last month.

Both parcels were described as containing a 'mannequin' but ABF officers allegedly found a silicon child-like sex doll in each package.

Two men aged 61 and 65, from Geraldton in Western Australia, were arrested this week (arrest pictured) after child-like sex dolls were intercepted at Perth customs in September

The first package arrived on September 1 and the second was intercepted three weeks later on September 21.

ABF investigators arrested the 65-year old man on Monday after executing a search warrant at his home.

Electronic communication devices, sex doll accessories and parts belonging to an imported infant-sized sex doll were seized.

The 65-year-old was charged with one count of importing tier two goods and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail or a fine of up to $555,000.

He was conveyed to the Geraldton Watch House by WA Police officers and appeared in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.

The 65-year-old was granted conditional bail and was due back in the same court on November 19.

ABF investigators executed a search warrant at the home of the 61-year-old man on Tuesday and he was also arrested.

He was charged with one count of importing a tier two good, as well as possessing child exploitation material and possessing a prohibited drug and drug paraphernalia after police discovered materials while searching his home.

The 61-year-old appeared in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.

He was also granted conditional bail to reappear on November 19.

ABF Investigations Acting Commander Nicholas Walker said preventing child-like sex dolls and child abuse material from crossing the border was a 'priority'.

'ABF officers have the skills and technology to detect items like these.

'And they are equally committed to investigating and prosecuting those who seek to import this deplorable material, which has no place in our community,' he said.
