Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said on Wednesday that the riots in Delhi this year were a "big conspiracy" to disturb the country's peace system, but security forces like the Rapid Action Force (RAF) were at that time spreading chaos. He said this while addressing the RAF personnel on the 28th Foundation Day of the RAF at a camp of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) here. Rai said in his address, "Through the Delhi riots this year a big conspiracy was hatched to disturb the peace system in the country." The RAF was instrumental in suppressing elements that spread chaos and ensured peace. He said that RAF personnel completely thwarted the nefarious designs of the rioters.
The minister said, "You suffered and got hurt during riots and demonstrations ... but you used force only when violent groups started disrupting the peace of society." The RAF was deployed during the communal violence in north-east Delhi in February. 53 people were killed in the riots while around 200 people were injured. Delhi Police has filed several charge sheets in this case in a Delhi court. The RAF has 15 battalions (more than 15,000 personnel), which are in different parts of the country.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the RAF personnel on the occasion. He tweeted, "Best wishes to the RAF personnel and their families on the 28th Foundation Day of the force. The RAF has specialized in dealing with the challenges of law and order. He said, "Many times and once again, his commitment to much humanitarian work and to the United Nations Peace Mission has made India proud."
Rai said that internal security and maintaining peace are two essential things for the development of a country. He commended CRPF personnel for killing top commanders of terrorist organizations operating in Kashmir Valley. He said that the force has acted to thwart Pakistan sponsored terrorist activities in the area. He said, "This is your big achievement. ''
Said CRPF Director AP Maheshwari, also addressing the personnel of the force and the security forces, and the RAF are provided with false and provocative message new challenges caused by the now social media before the special units.
