PRISONS Commissioner Dennis Pulchan on Tuesday warned the killers of prison officer Stephon Richardson, saying they will in time pay for their actions. Richardson, 30, was gunned down near a Church in Moruga on Sunday night.
Speaking with Newsday, Pulchan said despite being a relatively new addition to the prison service, Richardson demonstrated the skill and potential to be a leader. He also extended condolences to Richardson’s widow and one-year-old son noting that such a crime should not go unpunished.
“All I can say is that the matter is under investigation, we are not sure as to why he was shot or who did it but I am counting on the police investigation to bring that information soon to the forefront.
“I know his wife and child will miss him, his parents are saddened by this. It shattered an entire family and let me just say those murderous demons who are perpetrating these crimes against people...there is an end one day.
“Evil can’t reign forever it must come to an end,” the prisons head said. Last month, prison officer Sherwin Francis was shot dead at his Oasis Greens, Chaguanas home.
Asked if the prison service would be implementing any measures to protect off-duty prison officers, Pulchan said while he could not divulge details, he confirmed that various discussions were being held within the Ministry of National Security.
