After the railway board permitted operations, the Indian Railway Catering And Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plans to restart Tejas Express trains from 17 October. The inaugural service of the Tejas Express was in January this year and the trains were halted in only months of operations in mid-March due to the Covid-19 crisis.
SOPs have been issued to ensure safety of passengers that will be followed by the IRCTC-operated trains. The Tejas Express has six stops: Nadiad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi, and Borivli. The train has an executive class, AC chair cars and dynamic pricing. Officials said there are currently four special trains operating between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
IRCTC also started 20 pairs of clone special train services on specific routes on Monday to counter the rush in special trains.
