Margao : The general secretary of the municipal employees’ association, Anil Shirodkar on Wednesday said that the MMC chief officer Agnelo Fernandes has assured to resolve some of their pending issues and hence the given strike notice has been withdrawn.
It may be recalled that the municipal employees association had given a strike notice a fortnight ago to the government that the employees would go on strike on October 8 onwards.
“One of our demands to transfer the chief officer Ajit Panchwadkar was met. Panchwadkar was transferred by the government. Secondly, the chief officer Fernandes has assured to resolve a few of our demands. We had highlighted several pending demands before the government. We therefore withdraw the strike announced,’’ he said. Regularisation of daily wage workers, settling of the grade pay and MACP benefits, filling of the vacant posts and resolving the harness cases were few of the demands, Shirodkar had highlighted in the strike notice.
