UP bank robbery accused arrested from Thane after 1 yr

Thane, Oct 7 (UNI) A man who had been on the run since last October after the bank robbery in Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the Crime Branch officials here, police said.
On October 17, 2019, four robbers looted Rs 23 lakh cash from HDFC Bank's branch office at Pharendra of Maharajganj at the gun-point.
Following the robbery, an offence under sections 394, 411, 506,120-B of Indian Penal Code was registered with the Pharenda police station of Maharajganj, police said.
While three of the robbers involved in the crime were arrested a month after the incident, the fourth one was on the run.
Acting on information that the wanted accused was in Bhiwandi of the Thane district, a UP police team landed in Thane and with the help of the city police traced the absconding accused.
Acting on a tip-off that the absconding accused was to come to a place near the railway station, a police team laid a trap at the spot and nabbed the accused this morning at around 0830 hours.
The accused, Salman alias Batton Abdul Kudus (22, originally from Lagunahi of Kesarha of Siddharth Nagar in UP and currently staying in Bhiwandi, has been handed over to the UP police team, sources added.
