Tamil Nadu reports 5,447 new COVID-19 cases, 67 deaths

Chennai, Oct 07 (UNI) Tamil Nadu reported 5,447 new COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the State’s overall caseload to 6,35,855 while 67 more fatalities took the death toll to 9,984.







Health department in its bulletin said of the 67 deaths, 35 were reported in government hospitals and 32 in private hospitals.







The total number of active cases stood at 45,135.





A record number of 93,242 samples were tested by RT-PCR in the last 24 hours taking the total number of samples tested till date to 79,57,106.





A total of 5,524 patients were discharged in the day, taking the count of recovered cases to 5,80,736.







Chennai recorded 1,369 fresh cases today, taking the city’s caseload to 1,76,779 while the death toll increased to 3,336 with 18 more fatalities.
