Phagwara, Oct 7 (UNI) The Dalit Valmiki Mazhabi Sikh Sangharsh Committee on Wednesday held a meeting with various religious and social organizations of Punjab and unanimously decided to close Punjab on Saturday, October 10 to register the protest against atrocities upon a dalit girl in Hathras in Uttar Pardesh.
All India Rangreta Dal President Joginder Singh Maan while declaring it told this UNI here on Wednesday Evening that the representatives of several dalits organisations including Rangareta Dal, Bhim Sena Amritsar, Baba Jeevan Singh Dal, Bharatiya Valmiki Dharam Samaj, Bharatiya Valmiki etc. Dharam Samaj, Central Bharatiya Sabha Reg. (India), Bhagwan Valmiki Action Committee, Jai Bhim Corporation Employees Union besides representatives of Ambedkar Sena Natives, Ambedkar Sena Punjab and Sant Samaj.
Giving more details about the meeting, Dera Bhagwan Valmiki Uggi Chitti (Nakodar) Gaddi Nashin Sant Pargat Nath and All India Rangareta Dal President Joginder Singh Mann(former Minister) said on September 4, in UP ,the girl was raped and brutally beaten by four beasts from her own village at Hathras in Uttar Pradesh and was ignored by the state government despite the heinous incident of breaking bones.
The death of dalit girl on September 29 while undergoing treatment came as a shock not only to the entire country but also to the Valmiki community around the world.
Maan alleged that the government wants to suppress the matter, which is why the deceased’s family is being intimidated with the intention of destroying the evidence locking her body in the middle of the night without informing the family members and burying her in the middle of the night reveals the pressure being exerted on the administration by the Yogi government there and the intentions of the Yogi Aditya Nath government. Therefore, the Valmiki community has decided to close Punjab on October 10 to register its strong protest. He warned that if the deceased did not get justice, a fierce struggle would be launched with the help of Valmiki groups across the country.
