Spectrum to expand its 24-hour cable news channel to several Texas markets

AUSTIN — Viewers in several markets across Texas who get cable service from Spectrum will begin receiving access to a 24-hours news channel that focuses on statewide and local news.
Spectrum News will launch Oct. 16 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Wichita Falls, El Paso, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley areas, the cable provider announced on Tuesday. The news channel has been operating in Austin and San Antonio since 1999.
The company said it will have "more than three dozen journalists embedded" in the targeted communities.
Spectrum also operates a bureau assigned to the state Capitol in Austin and airs a nightly 30-minute program, Capital Tonight, Monday through Friday that focuses on state government and politics. It starts at 7 p.m. Central Time.
