Railways to prepare 2nd reservation charts again from Oct 10: officials

Nanded, Oct 6 (UNI) The Indian Railways will restore the earlier system of preparation of second reservation charts with effect from October 10, informed the officials on Tuesday.
As per established pre-Covid period instructions, the first reservation chart was prepared at least 4 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the trains, thereafter, the available accommodation could be booked across the counters as well as through internet on the first-come-first-serve basis till preparation of second reservation charts.
The second reservation charts were prepared between 30 minutes and 5 minutes before scheduled or rescheduled time of departure of trains and cancellation of already booked tickets was also permitted during this period as per provisions of Refund Rules.
However, due to the pandemic, instructions were issued to shift the time of preparation of the second reservation chart to 2 hours before scheduled or rescheduled time of departure of trains.
Following the request of Zonal Railways for ensuring convenience of rail passengers, the matter has been examined and it was decided that the second reservation chart shall be prepared at least 30 minutes before scheduled or rescheduled time of departure of the trains.
Accordingly, ticket booking facility, both online and on the ticket counters, shall be made available, before preparation of the second chart, informed chief Public Relations officer Ch Rakesh and PRO of the Nanded division of the South Central Railway Rajesh Shinde.
