Chennai: Striking down the request by medical students to rescind the policy of mandatory two-year service in government hospitals, Madras HC ruled in favour of the policy.
Earlier, the 276 medical students' had won their case when it came for hearing to a private judge.
State government appealed against this decision to the Madras High Court.
The Bench headed by Justice AP Sahi and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy overturned the previous decision pronounced by Private Judge.
They ruled that the two-year compulsory service in GH policy by state government is legally valid despite the students citing there is no such rule in the official guidelines handbook of Indian Medical studies.
