Left delegation meets family members of Hathras victim, demands probe by sitting SC judge

Hathras, Oct 6 (UNI) A joint delegation of CPI and CPI(M) on Tuesday met the family members of the 19-year-old girl who died in a Delhi hospital on September 29 after she was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras, and demanded an independent judicial enquiry into the matter.

The Left delegation, after their visit, said that the Dalit family members are scared of their security and were apprehensive of getting justice.

The Left leaders demanded that the UP government should work as per the Constitution and provide security and justice to the victim's family." Every citizen of the country, as per the Constitution, has the right to get justice," they said, adding that the victim's family has demanded a judicial probe rather than the CBI investigation.

The Left parties delegation demanded that as per the request of the family, government should order for a probe by the sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

The leaders also slammed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has not yet visited Hathras to meet the family members.

The delegation included CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri, CPI General Secretary D Raja, CPI(M) Polit Buro member Brinda Karat, CPI National Secretary Amarjeet Kaur, CPI(M) , UP State Secretary Hiralal Yadav and CPI,UP State Secretary Dr Girish.
