The anger in people's minds has stayed since Sushant Singh Rajput's death on June 14, 2020. Millions of people have come together on social media pages to demand justice for the late actor. At every step of the death case from Mumbai Police to CBI, people have been sharing their opinions on social media pages. Now as per latest reports in Hindustan Times, about 80,000 fake accounts have been created across all social media platforms to demoralise Mumbai Police and Maharashtra government.

Confirming the same, an IPS officer told the daily, "We identified the posts in foreign languages because of the hashtags used like #justiceforsushant #sushantsinghrajput and #SSR. We’re in the process of verifying more accounts."

The posts are not only from India but also from other parts of the world including Italy, Japan, Poland, Slovenia, Indonesia, Turkey, Thailand, Romania and France.

Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh also said, "The campaign was run against Mumbai police just to demoralise us at a time when 84 policemen had died due to the pandemic and over 6,000 men were infected with the virus. This was a motivated campaign with vested interest just to malign the image of Mumbai police and derail our line of investigation."

He added, "Multiple fake accounts on social media were created to target Mumbai police with abusive tones. Our cyber cell is conducting a thorough investigation into this matter and all those found violating the law will be prosecuted under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act."
