Patiala/New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that he was not bothered about being pushed by the Uttar Pradesh police during his visit to Hathras, as he was there to express his support to the family of the Hathras gangrape victim.
'Today, the whole country is being pushed and thrashed. If I got pushed a little, its not a big deal. Our job is to protect the interests of the people of the country.
'The real and unimaginable thrashing was meted out to the family of the Hathras gangrape victim. Suppose someone killed your son (or daughter) and then when you ask for justice, they locked open your house and then DM came to your house and kicked you and threatened you and told you that if you open your mouth, the entire state of UP will sort you out and then told you - don’t worry, all these protestors, they will go away, Rahul Gandhi will go away, but we will be here. That is how that family felt. I wanted that family to know that they are not alone,' Mr Gandhi said.
On the reason for his visiting Hathras to meet the family of the victim, he said, 'I told the family that I have come not just for your daughter but for lakhs of women who have to experience such misbehavior on a daily basis. What is interesting is that a girl is raped and murdered and tge entire administration is busy attacking the family of the victim but the Prime Minister of the country does not say even a single word,' he added.
