New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) Ahead of the festive season which draws large-scale crowds and could increase the risk of spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday issued new guidelines or Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to be put in place.
The SOPs issued by the Ministry provides guidelines for the administration and organisers as well as measures
to be taken to prevent the spread of infection during the events and what instructions to follow in case a person is confirmed to be infected during the event is explained in detail.
The Ministry has made it clear that no event can take place in any of the containment zones. The ministry has
advised people over the age of 65, those with serious illnesses, pregnant women and children under the age of
10 to stay at home. This advice also applies to organisers and their employees.
Apart from this, the local administration of those areas may implement additional security measures to prevent
infection in the areas coming under its jurisdiction.
According to the SOPs, the organisers have to make a detailed plan to meet the needs related to thermal scanning, physical distancing and hygiene at the venue before organising festivals, fairs, rallies, exhibitions, cultural programmes and dramas. If the event is for a few days or weeks then according to the crowd, they should be managed and adequate physical distance and cleanliness taken care of. Only a limited number of people is allowed to join and wear masks at the time of rally or idol immersion. Ambulance service will be needed if the rally or journey is covering long distances.
