NCW notice to Malviya, Digvijaya, Swara for disclosing Hathras victim's name

New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday issued notices to BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malaviya, actor Swara Bhaskar and Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, for reportedly disclosing
the name of the Dalit girl, raped and murdered in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh.
"NCW India has served notices to Amit Malviya, Digvijaya Singh and Swara Bhaskar seeking explanation on their Twitter posts revealing the identity of the Hathras vicitm along with a direction to remove these posts
immediately and to refrain from shairng such posts in future," the NCW posted in a tweet on Tuesday.
''Disclosure of a rape victim's name is frowned upon by the Supreme Court under Section 228 A (2) of the Indian Penal Code nor the identity of the victim should be discernible from any matter published in the media,'' the NCW pointed out and sought an explanation from them.
