UP govt tried to suppress facts in Hathras case: Maha Min

Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) Alleging the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government of trying to suppressing facts in the alleged gangrape and murder of a Dalit girl in Hathras, MPCC President and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat on Monday said the role of UP police in the case raised several questions.
Leading a Satyagraha, organised in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue near the Mantralaya here, Mr Thorat said the incident in Uttar Pradesh was inhumane and their protest was against the actions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Uttar Pradesh police.
The manner in which Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were treated by the Uttar Pradesh police, while trying to raise their voices against the injustice done to the Dalit girl and her family, was highly offensive and reprehensible, he said.
The victim's family was not allowed to meet anyone. By restricting the Leader of the Opposition and even banning the press from visiting the family, it is clear that the Yogi government is desperately trying to save someone, Mr Thorat alleged further.
Mumbai Congress President Eknath Gaikwad, Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh, Textiles Minister Aslam Sheikh, Minister of State for Home Affairs Satej alias Bunty Patil, former Minister Chandrakant Handore, former MP Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar, Hussain Dalwai, MLCs Bhai Jagtap and Amin Patel, Pradesh Congress General Secretary Sachin Sawant, Yashwant Happe, Bhaijaan, Secretary Rajaram Deshmukh, Zeeshan Ahmed, Nitin Patil and Munaf Hakim, among others, took part in the agitation.
