Dr Digambar Shirke appointed new VC of Shivaji University, Kolhapur

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities in the state, Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Tuesday appointed Dr Digambar Tukaram Shirke as the new vice-chancellor of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Dr Shirke who is serving as the professor in the Department of Statistics at the Shivaji University has been appointed as the vice-chancellor for a term of 5 years.
Dr Shirke has succeeded Dr Devanand Shinde, whose term as vice-chancellor ended on June 17 of this year.
Dr Nitin Karmalkar, vice-chancellor of the Savitribai Phule Pune University, was holding the additional charge of the post of vice-chancellor, Shivaji Univerisity, during the interim period.
