COVID-19: 5,795 fresh cases diagnosed, 33 patients die in AP

Vijayawada, Oct 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh reported 5,795 fresh positive cases of coronavirus, taking the tally to 7,29,307, while 33 more patients died, taking the total number of deaths to 6,052.

A health bulletin here on Tuesday said that 65,889 swab samples were tested in a period of 24 hours, of which 5,795 were tested positive for Coronavirus.

With the deaths of 33 persons, the Pandemic has claimed 6,052 lives so far. Large number of deaths have taken place in Chittoor (683), followed by Anantapur (509), East Godavari district (548), Guntur (548) and Prakasham district (505).

There are 50,776 active cases in the State while 6,72,479 patients have been discharged as they recovered. East Godavari district has stood top in reporting highest number of 1,02,439 cases while 66,555 cases were reported in Chittoor district, 59,214 cases were reported in Anantapur district, 57,673 cases were reported in Guntur district, 57,281 cases were reported in Kurnool district and 55,080 cases reported in Nellore district.

Significantly, the recoveries (6046) are higher than fresh cases (5795). So far, 62,16,240 swab samples have been diagnosed in AP.

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 6 (UNI) Kerala reported 25 deaths due to COVID-19 on Tuesday whereas 7,871 people tested positive to the virus, 4,981 patients have recovered from the disease and 87,738 patients are undergoing treatment in the State, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
