Stock market update: IT stocks down; Wipro drops over 2%

NEW DELHI: IT stocks were trading on a negative note at 02:02PM (IST) on Tuesday.

Shares of Wipro (down 2.17 per cent), Tata Consultancy (down 0.89 per cent), Info Edge (India) (down 0.48 per cent) and Infosys (down 0.46 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 3.45 per cent), Coforge (up 1.34 per cent), Mindtree (up 1.22 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 0.19 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 0.17 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.41 per cent down at 20724.5 around 02:02PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 88.55 points at 11591.9, while the BSE Sensex was up 337.72 points at 39311.42.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, IDFC First Bank Ltd. and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ruchi Soya Inds, Laurus Labs Ltd., Max Financial Services, Asian Paints and Berger Paints hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Karuturi Global Ltd., Vera Synthetic Ltd. and Silver Touch Technologies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
