Not again! Former Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan has revealed she is now the victim of a stolen identity scam - years after her catfishing nightmare

'Hiya Guys! Just a heads up, I've had a fair few people messaging me and notifying me that there is a page going around sending messages and what not,' Casey wrote.

She added: 'The page depicted below is not associated with me, my brand or anything that I do or lend my name too. It has been reported.

'Please keep in mind that my Facebook Fan page, Instagram & Twitter all have a *blue tick* to let you know that the profile and page is verified. If it does not have a blue tick it is more than likely spam. Hope you're all well and keeping safe.'

The star was the victim of a bizarre catfishing hoax for six years orchestrated by a female friend.

In July 2018, Casey told Stellar magazine that she had no idea why she was catfished.

'I think it has a lot to do with my vulnerability,' she offered.

'I can be a complete b***h, but it's the openness that sometimes the nasty ones spot and think "OK, we're gonna take this chick for all she's worth."'

The friend had deceived Casey for six years, posing as a man named Campbell.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph in 2016, Casey confessed she'd turned to rendezvous with strangers in order to escape the hurt of her past.

'It was more or less to get away from that situation I was in, and it is such a confidence booster,' she said, describing herself a sex addict.

'When you're emotionally disconnected from the situation, it can get really dangerous because you burn and churn,' she added.

'And with technology at your fingertips it's just too easy — it's like ordering a pizza.'
