Lucknow, Oct 5 (UNI) BJP national general secretary Anil Jain on Monday slammed the Opposition parties for 'misleading" the farmers on the farm laws and said the reforms will ensure liberalisation in the farm sector for the first time since Independence.
"The opposition parties are misleading the farmers on the farm sector laws. The opposition is not saying anything about the provision of the laws. They are spreading rumours that farmers won't get the minimum support price (MSP) for their produce. Nowhere in the bill is it written that the farmers won't get the MSP. They will continue to enjoy it like in previous years," Mr Jain said.
He said the farmers will have their own choice about whom to sell their produce.
"This is not only liberalisation of the agriculture sector but also the liberalisation of every single farmer of the country. The farmers will taste freedom for the first time after Independence," Mr Jain told reporters here.
The farm sector reforms have ensured that farmers can sell their produce to anyone outside his 'mandi'. This will empower him to sell wherever he gets a better price and grow what fetches him money, he said. "The Opposition claims that farmers will lose their lands when the bills become laws are only canards to mislead the cultivators," the BJP leader said.
The senior BJP leaders said that since Narendra Modi has become Prime Minister, Opposition is misleading the people.
"The Opposition parties’ opposition started with the Government's decision to repeal Article 370, and it was followed up with protest on CAA and non-existent NRC. Opposition parties even cried foul on the Union government’s Covid management and government’s decision to go for nationwide lockdown to slow down spread of coronavirus. And, now the opposition is using agriculture bills to stage protest across the country without giving a thought that three bills passed by Parliament recently will actually increase the income of farmers," he said.
"The Opposition does not realize that the measures contained in the law will enable barrier-free trade in agricultural produce, and also empower farmers to engage with investors of their choice," he said.
