The latest appearance of Egyptian anchor Basma Wahba sparked controversy among the audience, due to her significantly excessive thinness and different face features.
Basma published a new picture on Instagram wearing a white blouse, commenting "School break", which was what many observers interacted with by asking about her health condition and the results of the check-ups that she conducted some time ago.
Followers circulated a number of old pictures of Basma and compared them to her current looks. The difference was obvious between then and now, as fatigue and exhaustion were evident on her.
Whaba did not reveal the details of her health condition and the results of her check-ups, despite questions of her followers, wishing her wellness and recovery in the near future, and to return again to her TV program.
Basma Wahba had recently traveled for treatment outside of Egypt.
She was criticized at first for not receiving treatment in Egypt, which forced her to clarify the truth to her audience.
Basma Wahba confirmed, in a video that she posted on Instagram, that she suffers from a rare disease. This is what prompted her to travel abroad to receive treatment; as there aren't a lot of patients in Egypt who have her condition.
She commented: "This specialization is not present in Egypt because it is rare. If you do not mind, I'd like to travel for treatment rather than stay in Egypt to die."
She added that 4% of people in the world get infected with this disease.
