Two of Britain's biggest crowdfunding platforms are set to merge to create a £140m firm. 

Crowdcube and Seedrs, which are both loss-making, allow entrepreneurs to raise money from the public by selling shares online.

Brewdog and Monzo bank started out on Crowdcube, while Revolut bank and Chapel Down wine raised money with Seedrs. 

But experts worry a merger could drive down competition. 

Oliver Kicks, of RLC Ventures, said: 'It leaves fewer choices for entrepreneurs'.
