The biggest news involved the team’s running back position. On Monday, the Patriots placed Sony Michel on the injured reserve. The third-year back was ruled out with a quad injury and now will miss at least three weeks. The Pats also added a running back by activating Damien Harris off the injured reserve.

The Pats also activated receiver/returner Gunner Olszewski off the injured reserve and subsequently placed special teamer Cody Davis (rib injury) on the IR. The team also elevated receiver Isaiah Zuber from the practice squad to the game day roster.

Through three weeks, Michel led the Patriots in rushing with 173 yards to go with one touchdown. He’s coming off his best game in a while after rushing for 117 yards on nine carries against the Las Vegas Raiders. Without him, the Patriots have Rex Burkhead, James White, J.J. Taylor and now, Harris.

Harris had a phenomenal training camp and looked like the team’s potential starter before a hand injury set him back. It was similar for Olszewski, who looked much improved in training camp. There was a portion of the summer where the second-year receiver looked like one of the better receivers in camp.
