Firefighters battle early morning blaze

Wichita Falls firefighters worked to control a house fire Monday morning on Barwise Street.

Wichita Falls firefighters battled to control a fully-involved structure fire Monday morning at a house in the 600 block of Barwise Street.

Assistant Fire Marshal Jody Ashlock said the call came in just before 7 a.m., when they arrived they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the vacant house.

"The h.ome was found to be vacant after primary and secondary searches were completed," Ashlock said. The department took about 20 minutes to gain control of the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated. They are estimating a little more that $6,000 in damage to the house and its contents. No injuries were reported.
