Shark warning issued for Perth beach after surfer 'pulled from board' 25 metres from shore
Fisheries is patrolling a poplar surf break off North Beach after a surfer was pulled from his board on Sunday morning by a shark.
A shark warning has been issued for Hamersley Pool and Toms Surf Break, near Mettams Pool, following an incident where a surfer reported he was pulled off his board around 25 metres from shore by a 1.5 metre suspected bronze whaler around 10.45am.
The male was unhurt, but his leg rope was damaged.
The interaction was reported to Water Police around an hour later and fisheries officers began conducting patrols of the area to assess the situation shortly afterwards.
The rare interaction follows a "large white shark" being spotted 60 metres from shore at Mettams Pool in July, and the Surf Life Saving Westpac helicopter spotting a two metre hammerhead in the area, around 50 metres from shore, in January.
