National flag flying at half mast in J&K, police cycle race postponed

Srinagar, Oct 4 (UNI) The National flag was on Sunday flying at half mast in Jammu and Kashmir, where government has announced one-day state mourning as a mark of respect to His Highness Sheikh Sabah-Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of State of Kuwait.
Meanwhile, police Cycle Race “ Pedal for Peace” which was scheduled to be held today on the bank of world famous Dal Lake has been postponed until further notice as a mark of respect to Emir of Kuwait.
The national flag was flying at half mast at Civil Secretariat, seat of the Union Territory (UT) government and other buildings.
An order was recently issued that during the period of mourning the national flag shall fly at half mast on all buildings and places throughout the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment on the day”.
This was for the second time the National flag will fly at half mast since abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 when state flag was removed from all government buildings, including Civil Secretariat, and government vehicles.
Earlier it was on August 31 when former president Pranab Mukherjee died.
