Punjab registers 857 fresh COVID-19 cases, 42 deaths

Chandigarh, Oct 4 (UNI) As many as 857 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 42 deaths were reported in Punjab on Sunday, taking the infection tally to 1,18,157 and the death toll to 3,603.
According to the Health bulletin, the fresh deaths included 10 in Ludhiana district, nine in Patiala, five in Jalandhar, three each in Bathinda, Gurdaspur and Hoshiarpur, two in SBS Nagar and one death each in Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Muktsar, Pathankot, Ropar, Sangrur and Tarn Taran districts today.
It further said 169 fresh cases were reported from Ludhiana district, 147 from Jalandhar, 138 from Amritsar, 77 from Patiala, 39 from SAS Nagar, 35 from Kapurthala, 30 from Hoshiarpur, 26 from Gurdaspur, 24 from Moga, 23 from SBS Nagar, 21 from Bathinda, 20 from Pathankot, 18 each from Fazilka and Mansa, 15 each from Sangrur and Tarn Taran, 12 from Faridkot, ten from Muktsar, eight from Barnala, seven from Ropar, four from Fatehgarh Sahib and one new case from Ferozepur district.
It was stated that of 3,603 fatalities in the state so far, 770 deaths have been registered in Ludhiana district, 406 in Jalandhar, 385 in Amritsar, 342 in Patiala, 192 in SAS Nagar, 170 in Hoshiarpur, 159 in Gurdaspur, 153 in Sangrur, 147 in Kapurthala, 122 in Bathinda, 105 in Ferozepur and 88 in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Pathankot registered 81 deaths, followed by 80 in Ropar, 73 in Moga, 71 in Tarn Taran, 54 in SBS Nagar, 47 in Faridkot, 45 in Muktsar, 43 in Barnala, 40 in Fazilka and 30 deaths in Mansa district.
According to the latest COVID figures, Ludhiana leads with 18,502 cases, followed by Jalandhar 13,417, Patiala 11,855, SAS Nagar 10,813, Amritsar 10,469, Gurdaspur 6,167, Bathinda 6,110, Hoshiarpur 4,733, Ferozepur 3,833, Pathankot 3,832, Sangrur 3,634, Kapurthala 3,517, Faridkot 2,823, Muktsar 2,578, Fazilka 2,482, Moga 2,308, Ropar 2,168, Fatehgarh Sahib 1,962, Barnala 1,863, Tarn Taran 1,725, SBS Nagar 1,697 and Mansa 1,669.
The bulletin further stated that there were 13,577 active patients in the state. Among them, 315 patients were on oxygen support and 52 on ventilators. It said 1,00,977 patients have been cured of the virus in the state so far.
Out of the total 19,51,623 samples taken in the state till now, 1,18,157 have tested positive, added the bulletin.
