Spike in Coronavirus cases continue in UT, 343 persons test positive, five die

Puducherry, Oct 4 (UNI) As many as 343 more persons were tested positive for the Coronavirus and five patients died in the Union Territory.

There were 4,787 active cases ending at 10 AM on Sunday.

According to the COVID 19 status released by the health department here, 213 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 53 in Karaikal region,15 in Yanam region and 62 in Mahe region.

As many as 419 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. Of them, 328 were from Puducherry region, 64 from Karaikal region, 21 from Yanam region and 6 from Mahe region.

Of the five deaths, one was recorded in Puducherry region and four in Karaikal region.

Presently, 1372 patients were being treated in Puducherry region, 95 in Karaikal region, 93 in Yanam region and 83 in Mahe region.

Another 3,144 persons tested positive for the virus were in home isolation and undergoing treatment in all the four regions of the UT.

So far, 29089 persons were infected by the virus and of which 23,763 were treated and discharged, 539 died and 4787 patients were being treated in hospitals and home isolation.
