Biggest surge in COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 3 (UNI) Meghalaya registered the biggest surge in Covid-19 cases so far with 423 persons testing positive for the viral infection on Saturday, pushing active cases in the state spiralling up to 2,083, health officials said.
Two more persons died due to Covid-19 infection, taking the fatality count due to the viral disease in the state to 54, Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said.
On the other hand, 93 more patients recovered from the viral infection as on Saturday, taking the number of recoveries in the state to 4,319.
Of the new 423 Covid-19 cases detected today, East Khasi Hills district alone accounted for 339, including 337 civilians and two from among the armed and paramilitary forces.
With 1,507 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, which includes Shillong is the most affected district in the state.

Nagaland detects 111 COVID-19 positive cases

Kohima, Oct 03 (UNI) In Nagaland, a total of 111 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected today and with these the total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 6,429. Nagaland Principal Secretary for Home Abhijit Sinha in a release informed that of the 111 cases, the breakup as 63 cases in Kohima and 48 cases in Dimapur. As per recovery record of today altogether 46 COVID-19 positive patients have been discharged and of them 43 cases from Dimapur and 3 cases from Kohima. Out of the 6,429 positive cases, the total recoveries so far are 5,207. The active cases are 1,150 and there have been 12 deaths. As per the severity of symptoms, 1,102 active cases are asymptomatic, 44 active cases are mild and 4 active cases are moderate. Further, out of 6,429 positive cases, the distributions across various categories of people are: 3,059 cases of Armed Forces and Police, 1,519 cases of returnees, 1,503 cases of traced contacts and 348 cases of front-line workers, the release said.
