The controversial reality show returned with its fourteenth season on Saturday. With movie theaters remaining shut since March and the audience being starved of entertainment, Bigg Boss 2020 is expected to fill a huge void in people’s lives. While Abhinav Shukla, Eijaz Khan, Rahul Vaidya, Pavitra Punia, Jasmin Bhasin, Nikki Tamboli and Shehzad Deol have entered Bigg Boss 14 house, Jaan Kumar Sanu, Rubina Dilaik, Nishant Singh Malkani and Sara Gurpal have been rejected by Toofani seniors Hina Khan, Sidharth Shukla and Gauahar Khan.
To maintain Covid-19 related precautions, the contestants of this season had to remain quarantined before entering the Bigg Boss 14 house. “The celebrities have already started the self-quarantine process. They have been put up in different hotels so that they do not find out who their co-housemates are. They are also shooting for their reality videos, and introductory performance for the premiere night. This season, there would be 12 contestants entering the house,” a source told indianexpress.com.
During the show’s virtual press launch recently, Salman Khan revealed his reasons for resuming working with Bigg Boss 14. Expressing concern about the aftermath of the long lockdown that halted all production work in tinseltown, the actor shared that he felt he needed to start working so that others could also earn. “The biggest reason that I am doing Bigg Boss is because I wanted people to start earning again. A lot many people died of COVID and also hunger. Bigg Boss has a big unit and gives employment to a lot of people,” Salman shared. The makers also hinted that the current season will be different from the past ones. Amenities like a theater, restaurant, spa and mall would give the contestants and viewers a chance to experience pre-lockdown luxuries. Salman remarked that Bigg Boss 14 is going to be a dream come true season for contestants.
Bigg Boss will air Monday-Friday at 10.30 pm and Saturday-Sunday at 9 pm on Colors. It will be available before TV exclusively on Voot Select.

Bigg Boss 14 host Salman Khan ends the premiere by saying, "Do whatever you guys want to do, just dont give corona to your parents.
Hina Khan and Sidharth Shukla ask Rahul Vaidya to get a kiss from a girl on his cheek. If he doesn't manage to get it, he won't be allowed to sleep.
Rahul Vaidya sings songs from Salman Khan's films. After his performance, Salman remembers SP Balasubrahmanyam. Further, Rahul explains whatever he said in his introductory video. He says he couldn't enter Bigg Boss because he was doing over 1500 shows a year. Pandit Janardhan tells Rahul he will have an arranged marriage and he has chances of finding a girl in the Bigg Boss house. Rahul interacts with his parents through a video call.
Rahul Vaidya introduces himself. He says, "Whatever I am today is because of music. I am very simple in my thoughts. I am fond of cars and watches. London is my favourite destination. I find happiness in small things. I have been offered Bigg Boss many times, but this time I agreed since I don't have many shows scheduled."

Before the contestants entered Bigg Boss 14 house, Radhe Maa went inside the house to purify it. She will not be participating in the show.
Sidharth Shukla shows the contestants of Bigg Boss 14 to Pavitra Punia, and she shares her take on them. She feels Eijaz Khan will first observe everyone and will then start playing his game. About Jasmin Bhasin, Pavitra thinks she will be quite smart in her game. Impressed with her honesty, the trio sends Pavitra inside the house.
Salman Khan asks a few questions to Pavitra Punia and Jaan Kumar Sanu. The first question is "Will you get yourself nominated to save others?" Pavitra says "Yes", and Jaan says "No". After they face a few more questions, Toofani seniors give their verdict. They select Pavitra Punia and reject Jaan Kumar Sanu.

When Salman Khan asked about Kumar Sanu's reaction to his son Jaan Kumar Sanu's participation in Bigg Boss 14, Jaan said his father was shocked. Jaan added, "Since I am trying to make a name for myself, I explained it to my father why I need to participate in Bigg Boss."
Kumar Sanu's son Jaan Kumar Sanu enters the Bigg Boss 14 stage singing his father's hit song "Sochenge tumhe pyaar".

Hina Khan, Gauahar Khan and Sidharth Shukla select Shehzad Deol. He enters the Bigg Boss 14 house. They reject Nishant Singh Malkhani and Sara Gurpal.
Sara Gurpal has to decide between Shehzad Deol and Nishant Singh Malkani who are first made to do arm wrestling, then pole dance and finally propose her. After the two men perform their tasks, Sara chooses Nishant.
Salman Khan introduces Sara Gurpal as the next contestant of Bigg Boss 14. Sara is a Punjabi singer and actor. She says she is her favourite and likes to have fun in life. Sara enters the stage singing a Punjabi song.

In the BBQ task, Salman asks Nishant Singh Malkani which of the two situations he disapproves of, 'Sidharth Shukla's aggression or Gauahar Khan leaving the house with Kushal Tandon'. Nishant says he disapproves of Sidharth's aggression. Shehzad is asked whom he wishes to go on a date with - Salman, Hina or Gauahar? Shehzad chooses Hina.
Salman Khan introduces Shehzad Deol as the next contestant of Bigg Boss 14. Shehzad works as a model and has done a couple of reality TV shows. He was the finalist on both the shows.

Nishant Singh Malkhani interacts with Salman Khan. He says Salman's four dialogues are his 'mantras' to follow inside the Bigg Boss house. A couple of them are, "Dosti ki hai nibhani toh padegi" and "ladkiyan jab gussa karti hain toh aur bhi khoobsurat lagti hain."
Nishant Singh Malkhani introduces himself as a fitness freak. He says, "I am very possessive about my space and I don't like people interfering in my life needlessly. Winning is not my priority but my need. I get aggressive easily. I am never disrespectful towards women and can't see anyone else getting disrespectful towards women. I have come to Bigg Boss to discover myself."
Gauahar Khan tells Jasmin Bhasin that she will be asking her a few questions, and meanwhile, some things will happen to her to which she can't react. As Sidharth Shukla breaks a bottle on her head, she reacts and later she puts a strong foot forward and doesn't react to other things. Finally, the trio sends her inside the house where she meets other contestants.
Salman Khan shows a clip that said Jasmin Bhasin was the reason for the misunderstandings between Sidharth Shukla and Rashami Desai. Jasmin says she never was the reason for Sidharth and Rashami's fight. She is further made to decide the menu for tonight's dinner for the contestants. As she makes her choice of Biryani and Noodles, Salman is amazed at her smartness. Now Toofani Seniors decide if they wish to have her inside the house or not. They select her and Jasmin enters the house.
The next contestant to enter the Bigg Boss house is Dil Se Dil Tak fame Jasmin Bhasin. Last seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi-Made In India, Jasmin is introduced as someone who never gives up. She meets Salman Khan on the stage and talks to him about her journey in Khatron Ke Khiladi. "People might think of me as a misfit for the show since I am a quiet and a simple girl. But a person has different sides, and I can also fight with others," Jasmin said.
