Hathras, Oct 3 (UNI) After much drama, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with three other senior leaders of the party, on Saturday evening met the family members of the Hathras Dalit girl in their Bulgari village, who was killed by some upper caste youths.

Mr Gandhi, after closet with the family members for around 45 minutes, said 'No power in the world can suppress the family's voice.'

Mr Gandhi said the family members asked them that they should ensure that they get justice of their daughter's killing." We have assured them that Congress will be behind them all the time and will help them in all manners," he further said.

The Congress leader said the family was very worried about their signatures taken by the police on blank papers which could be used against them.

'We have asked them not to worry as we will take up the issue.

'We pacified them that they have done nothing wrong and it was their right to seek justice of their daughter," Rahul said.

Ms Vadra, who first embraced the mother and sister-in-law of the victim, told media that ," the family wants a judicial inquiry into the incident and removal of the District Magistrate. They also want security."

'The family couldn't see their daughter for the one last time. UP CM Yogi Adityanath should understand his responsibility. Till the time justice is delivered, we'll continue this fight.," she added.

It was also reported that Rahul Gandhi also handed over a cheque of some compensation to the father of the victim. But the amount was not disclosed.

The Congress delegation was also accompanied by Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Choudhury and K C Venugopal. The Congress delegation reached Bulgari village at around 1930 hours and after one hour stay they returned back to New Delhi.

Earlier, a major scuffle was reported at the DND on the entry point of UP from Delhi, when Mr Gandhi and Ms Vadra were coming to Hathras. Police had to lathi charge on the Congress workers who were trying to join Rahul-Priyanka to Hathras.
