Photos of COVID-19 times attract eyes at exhibition

Bhopal, Oct 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday awarded the winners of a state-level photography contest whose theme was the ‘millennium scourge’.
During the programme conducted at the state capital’s Manas Bhavan, the senior politician also inaugurated an exhibition of pictures clicked by press photographers, an official release said.

“Their amazing creativity in the face of an abysmal crisis is both apparent and admirable. Indeed, the images vividly narrate the grim story of the pandemic. A picture is truly worth a thousand words,” the veteran leader observed.

The first prize – carrying a cash component of Rs 25,000 – was presented to Mr Sumit, the second (Rs 15,000) to Mr Deepak Jain and the third (Rs 11,000) to Mr Shakir Siddiqui. All three are Indore residents. Approximately 400 entries were received in this competition organised by BIMB TV News Service. In the amateur category, amounts of Rs 5,100; Rs 2,100 and Rs 1,100 went to Indore’s Shobha Mishra, Ujjain’s Rajkumar Keswani and Indore’s Hemant Jaiswal respectively.

The Assembly’s Pro Tem Speaker Rameshwar Sharma distributed certificates. Among those in attendance were Mr Raghunandan Sharma, Mr RC Sahu, Mr Sushil Aggarwal, Mr Nand Kishore, Mr Shubh Mishra, Mr Rakesh Batra, Mr Raza Maval and jury members.

“No culprit must be spared, instil trepidation in perpetrators’ psyche plus take ceaseless action against such criminal elements,” the senior politician instructed at his residence while reviewing the law and order situation.
