Union Minister supports Yogi Adityanath's action in Hathras incident

Lucknow, Oct 3(UNI) Union Minister And Republican Party chief Ramadas Athawale, though maintaining that the atrocities on Dalit in Hathras was a serious issue, supported Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's action in the incident.

Mr Athawale said that he wanted to go to Hathras on Friday but could not as politicians are nor allowed in the village.

He also demanded that District Magistrate of Hathras should be taken to task as he was responsible for the entire controversy. The Union Minister also admitted that the authorities should not have cremated the victim's body after midnight without the family's consent.

Talking to reporters here on Saturday after meeting Governor Anandiben Patel and the Chief Minister, the Minister said that political parties should not go politics over Dalit atrocities.



He, however, questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over not going to Rajasthan where too a rape happened but Congress leader was only interested in doing politics in UP.



"The accused if found guilty should be given capital punishment. But Dalits should get better treatment in the society, " he added.
