252 new Covid cases, two deaths in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 3 (UNI) Two persons died of Covid while 252 new cases were detected and 89 persons were discharged.

In the past 24 hours, 228 persons (138M, 90F) from general population and 24 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases.

The positive cases were from RIMS - 49, JNIMS - 134, Maipakpi Hospital - 1, Noney - 14, Raj Medicity - 3, Imphal East - 2, Ukhrul - 5, Tengnoupal - 2, Advance Hospital - 1, Tamenglong - 5, Senapati - 1, Kangpokpi - 3, Jiribam - 3, Churachandpur - 2, Thoubal - !0, Babina Diagnostics - 12, Jivan Hospital - 4, Christian Hospital - 1.

The positive cases from general population were from Imphal West- 52, Jiribam - 2, Kakching - 6, Thoubal - 14, Chandel - 5, Churachandpur - 26, Imphal East - 94, Bishnupur - 1, Noney - 14, Ukhrul - 5, Tengnoupal - 2, Tamenglong - 3, Senapati - 1, Kangpokpi - 3. One from Churachandpur is a returnee from other state while the rest were locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place.

Two females aged 68 yrs and 46 yrs (both from Churachandpur) expired at home and CCC Lanva TD Block respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 71.

The discharged persons were from CAPF (21), Home Isolation (1), RIMS (17), UNACCO (24), PR Kakching (14), RD Wing (7), CCC Lamding (1), CCC Kangpokpi (1), CCC Senapati (1) and JNIMS (2) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 11,649 (General Population - 9,250 and Central Security Personne! - 2,399). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 9,081 (General Population - 7,016 and Central Security Personnel - 2,065). The number of active cases is 2,497 (General Population — 2,166 and Central Security Personnel -331). The recovery rate is 77.95 %, said Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Spokesperson.
