Imphal, Oct 2 (UNI) Recoveries exceeded new Covid cases in Manipur today with 351 people recovering and 286 new cases detected.
A 64-year old woman from Imphal East died today increasing the death toll to 69.
In the past twenty-four hours, 226 persons (123M, 103F) from general population and 60 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases.
The positive cases were from RIMS-43, JNIMS-159, Shija Hospital-6, Tamenglong- 9, Bishnupur-1, Imphal East-11, Christian Hospital-1, Noney-4, Thoubal-1, Noney-7, Hillside Hospital-1, Raj Medicity-4, Jiribam-2, Imphal West-28, Babina Diagnostics-9.
The positive cases from general population were from Imphal West-73, Imphal East-103, Thoubal-4, Senapati-2, Jiribam-2, Bishnupur-4, Churachandpur-11, Tamenglong-12, Tengnoupal-8, Noney-7. Two persons (IE-1, Bishnupur-1) were returnees from other states while the rest were without any significant travel history. They were shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place.
The total number of discharged persons was 351. They were from CAPF (277), Home Isolation (1), RIMS (3), CCC Bishnupur (15), UNACCO (35), Noney (1), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (7), CCC Jiribam (1), JNIMS (8) and TK Ukhrul (3) after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 11,397 (General Population - 9,022 and Central Security Personnel - 2,375). The cumulative number of recovered cases was 8,992 (General Population - 6,948 and Central Security Personnel - 2,044). The number of active cases was 2,336 (General Population - 2,008 and Central Security Personnel - 328). The recovery rate was 78.89 %.
Home Isolation is allowed for asymptomatic Covid positive persons as per Ministry of Health & Family Welfare guidelines and Government of Manipur SoP. It is a safe and convenient option, already adopted by 600 persons in Manipur. It is very widely adopted in other states, said Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Spokesperson, Health Department, Manipur.
