Spike in Coronavirus cases continue, 515 fresh positive cases, 7 deaths reported in UT in past 24 hrs

Puducherry, Oct 2 (UNI) As many as 514 more persons were tested positive for the Coronavirus and seven patients died in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours.
The active cases, ending at 10 AM on Friday, stood at 5,054.
According to the COVID 19 status released by the health department, 435 new cases were reported in Puducherry region,57 in Karaikal region,13 in Yanam region and 9 in Mahe region.
As many as 443 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. Of them, 311 were from Puducherry region, 94 from Karaikal region, 21 from Yanam region and 17 from Mahe region.
Five patients succumbed to the virus in Puducherry region and one each from Karaikal and Yanam regions.
Presently, 1498 patients were being treated in Puducherry region, 155 in Karaikal region,106 in Yanam region and 58 in Mahe region.
Another 3237 persons tested Corona positive were taking treatment under home isolation in all the four regions of the UT.
So far, 28534 persons are infected by the virus and of which 22,948 were treated and discharged, 532 died and 5,054 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
