Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) A journalist, who was covering the Samajwadi Party's protest at Hazratganj on Friday over the Hathras incident, was allegedly thrashed by the Lucknow police, sources said.

As per the sources, journalist Asad Rizvi, associated with The Wire and other media houses, was recording the protest through his mobile phone, when the police personnel allegedly snatched his mobile phone and charged him with lathi.

"Police snatched my phone and detained me for some time," Mr Rizvi said.

Mr Rizvi said police released him later and returned his mobile phone but warned not to broadcast the story.
