AP CM, Naidu pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birth anniversary

Vijayawada, Oct 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly N Chandrababu Naidu paid tributes to father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birth anniversary on Friday.
In a message here, the Chief Minister said “Remembering the great leader who liberated & shaped our nation by propounding his ideals of Satya and Ahimsa.
Gandhiji might not be with us today, but his teachings & noble thoughts have stood the test of time and they continue to guide millions.''
Mr Reddy said ”On this day last year, we invigorated Gandhiji's ideas of Grama Swaraj with the establishment of Grama Sachivalayams, to make our villages self-reliant and brought non-corrupt governance to the doorsteps of the people.''
Mr Naidu in a message lauded Mahatma for practicing what he preached and his ideals would be long enduring and timeless.
Gandhiji strove hard for establishing an egalitarian and equitable society. Gandhi Jayanthi should be celebrated to motivate one and all to move forward and achieve the Mahatma's ideals, the TDP National President said.
In a separate statement, TDP National General Secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh said that Gandhiji had given inspiration to many statesmen, social activists and philosophers across the world with his idealistic life.
Mahatma's struggle gave motivation to many movements that were launched to fight against discrimination and oppression, he added.
