Active Covid cases come down under 50K in UP

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) After five weeks, the number of active Covid-19 patients in Uttar Pradesh on Friday came down under 50,000-mark with recovery rate further improving to 86.47 per cent.

The number of fresh cases on Friday was 3,946 while 5,107 have recovered and the total number of positive cases in the state has gone up to 4,06,995.

A total of 5,917 people lost their lives to the lethal virus with 53 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours.

State Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said, on August 5 last it crossed the 50,000 mark and on September 17 it was on the peak with over 68,000 active patients in a day. Today, the number of active patients is 49,112 while the number of recovered patients is 3,51,966, he said.

The official said, on Thursday 1,62,212 sample tests were done and now the total Covid tests in the state has reached another milestone of 1,04,26,042 so far.

Mr Prasad said there are 22,987 positive asymptomatic patients in home isolation.while 3656 patients were admitted in private hospitals.

Over 3.96 lakh surveillance teams have visited 1,28,604 areas of the state and visited 2.58 crore houses to check the health of over 12.81 crore people.
