DM, SP meet Balrampur rape victim's family, hand over compensation letter

Balrampur, Oct 1 (UNI) Following the gang-rape and subsequent death of a woman in the Gaisadi area here, the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) visited the victim's house and handed over a letter in relation to compensation amount of Rs 6,18,750 to the family on Thursday.

Official sources here said that the 22-year-old woman was gang-raped on Tuesday. due to her critical condition, she succumbed while on her way to the hospital.

Based upon a complaint of the family, two identified accused have been arrested in connection with the case.

Sources said that DM Karuna Karunesh and SP Devranjan Verma met the victim's family with Mahant Mithlesh Kumar Yogi of the Devipatan temple.

The officials told the family that the identified accused have been arrested and preparations are underway to send them to jail.

Notably, this case is among the slew of crimes against women that are on the rise in the state. After a rape incident in the same district and Hathras, this is another rape case to be reported.
