Please Explain podcast: first US Presidential debate a 'chaotic mess'

The first presidential debate of the US election was hard to watch. Donald Trump constantly interrupted Joe Bide, who retaliated by calling the President a 'clown' and told him to 'shut up'.

The Commission on Presidential Debates has committed to adjusting the format of the two remaining clashes but is yet to make a decision on whether to cut the candidate's microphones when interruptions arise.

In this episode, national editor Tory Maguire is joined by North America correspondent Matthew Knott to try to make some sense of yesterday's "chaotic mess" of a debate.
