Meghalaya CM re-distributes ministerial portfolios

Shillong, Oct 1 (UNI) Hours after two new ministers, Dasakhiatbha Lamare and Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, were inducted in the Conrad Sangma-led cabinet, a notification regarding the allocation of portfolios was issued by the Cabinet Affairs Department on Thursday.
According to the notification, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will continue holding the Cabinet Affairs, Finance, Personnel & A.R., Planning, Home (Political) Departments, and other portfolios not allotted to any minister.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has been allotted Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department besides the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Housing, Labour, Parliamentary Affairs, Public Works Department (Roads), Cooperation Departments, which he previously held.
James Sangma, who is elder brother of Conrad was relieved of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs portfolio but was given the
Forests and Environment Department. He will continue holding the Information & Public Relations, Law, Power and Taxation Departments.
Alexander Hek Laloo of the BJP will continue to hold the Arts & Culture, Health & Family Welfare, Home (Passport) and Prisons Departments.
Sniawbhalang Dhar will continue as the minister in charge of Commerce & Industries, Transport and Urban Affairs & Municipal Administration Departments.
The prestigious Community and Rural Development department taken away from him and given to Hamletson Dohling.
However, Dohling retained Information Technology & Communication Department.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has been allotted a new portfolio – District Council Affairs Department, which was previously held by Dohling. He will continue holding the Border Areas Development and Education department.
Kyrmen Shylla has been relieved of the Printing & Stationery Department but will continue to hold the Revenue & Disaster Management, Excise and Social Welfare Departments.
Banteidor Lyngdoh will continue to hold the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Horticulture, Sports & Youth Affairs and Textiles Departments.
Brolding Nongsiej of UDP will continue to hold the Home (Civil Defence and Home Guards) and Water Resources. He was given a new portfolio — Printing & Stationery.
Newly-inducted minister, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar will hold the Legal Metrology, Public Health Engineering, Secretariat Administration Departments, which were previously held by Samlin Malngiang.
And Dasakhiatbha Lamare will hold Fisheries, General Administration Department, Public Works Department (Buildings), which were previously held by Comingone Ymbon.
