WESTPORT -- There won't be any hayrides and pumpkin picking at Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery this year thanks to the coronavirus.

The Russell family, who operates the farm at 417 Hix Bridge Road, made the announcement in a news release:

"Sad news. For a myriad of reasons (social distancing rules, lack of staffing etc) we will not be hosting hayrides on the farm this year. The pandemic continues to impact our family farm in so many ways.

"We sincerely apologize that there will be no rides though the vineyard and pumpkin picking however we look forward to getting back to normal in 2021. We will continue to have a food truck on site every day and offer beer and wine by the glass at our socially distanced tables and chairs. Stop by Monday through Saturday 11am and 5pm and take a break from this crazy world."
